On April 3rd, the participants of the youth exchange “SURVIVAL – Youth Exchange” returned home. This Erasmus+ project took place in the rural areas of Catalonia, offering young people an intense experience of learning, sharing, and outdoor living.
During the project, the participants took part in non-formal education activities related to survival, cooperation, and personal growth, spending several days in close contact with nature and experiencing life in tents. It was an experience that allowed them to step out of their comfort zone, develop new skills, and build connections with peers from different European countries.
Below are some direct testimonials from the participants:
Francesco:
“It was a great experience where I had a lot of fun, made new friends, improved my language skills, and did survival-related activities, such as using a map and compass or using tools.”
Romina:
“I’ll start by saying that at first I thought I wouldn’t like this project very much, and during the first days this feeling was becoming real… but as the activities went on, as we met with the other countries and had plenty of free time to socialise, I changed my mind. I think this was thanks to the fact that the participants from other countries were very sociable, open, and friendly!”
Marco:
“It was a wonderful experience. I especially liked being outdoors and building shelters, making friends with people my age, and sharing this experience with my friends from Seulo.”
Greta :
“The Survival project in Spain was a unique experience to meet young people from many parts of Europe, each with something to share and tell, and to challenge ourselves together through activities. It was an intense week full of fun and new friendships with amazing people, whom I hope to meet again in the future. I am grateful for this experience and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to challenge themselves and discover new things ❤️”
Raffaele:
“The trip went well. I liked it, except for some things like the food and the place where we slept. However, the company and the fun were always there, thanks 🙏”
Richard:
“This experience helped me make new friends and improve my English level. It was very fun and enjoyable, especially because I was with my friends from Seulo and felt comfortable.”
✨ An experience that leaves a mark
Projects like this represent a concrete opportunity for young people from rural areas to challenge themselves, gain transversal skills, and open up to a European dimension based on encounter, diversity, and cooperation.
This experience shows how, even through simple but meaningful challenges—such as sleeping in tents, adapting to new environments, and working in groups—it is possible to foster personal growth, awareness, and independence.
🌍 Investing in young people means building stronger, more open, and more connected communities.
